Biography
Isle of Stipe is the creative child of singer/songwriter DJ Stipe. Inventor of the Self-help Rock genre and dubbed by fans as Stipadelic, his music is a blend of spoken word, rock, folk and blues, exploring the philosophy of creativity and our obligation to improve the universe, one self at a time.
DJ is an outspoken mental health advocate, having overcome his own challenges there, and these topics inform his writing, along with general advocacy and being of service, and of course having fun. He's involved with multiple charitable ventures and helped found a 501(c) non-profit that brings free theater to his local community. Stranded Among Friends, the first Isle of Stipe album, was released in 2020. His latest album, "Grieflove", an exploration of the intersection of grief and love, was released in 2022.
Isle of Stipe performances are genre defying, as he creates truly unique textures and full band sounds using nothing but a loop station and his guitar. Originals can be tender, thought-provoking, snarky, funny, acoustic or electric - and are always entertaining. He also brings a vast library of covers from current material back to the 70s and beyond, including Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews Band, Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Willie Nelson, the Avett Brothers, Ben Harper and many more.
